David
Tandy
has
the

government
experience
and
credentials
to
lead
the
city
of
Louisville
into
the
21st
Century.
His
passion
for
public
service
and
his
dedication
to
working
families
across
this
city
is
unparalleled.
David
was
first
elected
as
Councilman
in
2005
and
then
in
2009
he
was
unanimously
elected
by
his
peers
to
serve
as
President
of
the
Louisville
Metro
Council.
During his tenure in city government, Councilman Tandy has continued to lead the way in delivering city services and growing the city’s economic base. He expanded economic opportunities for our community by sponsoring legislation that has helped create an additional 60,000 jobs. Councilman Tandy has continued to raise the bar on educational opportunities for children. He has worked on many efforts to guarantee that students in this city are getting the best education they deserve by initiating after school and summer programs that help prepare our young people for the economy of the future. Councilman Tandy has made great strides in helping to increase the quality of life among residents by initiating activities in our city’s parks and throughout the community for citizens of all ages.
A respected attorney within the legal community Councilman Tandy practiced law at Stoll-Keenon-Ogden where he focused on public finance, corporate law and government relations. In addition, Councilman Tandy served as the Government Relations Director for the American Cancer Society, Mid-South Division, Inc., and worked in the Washington D.C. Office of former United States Senator Wendell H. Ford.
Councilman Tandy’s community involvement includes serving as a member of the Waterfront Development Corporation, and Downtown Development Corporation. In addition he is a former Board Member of the Kentucky YMCA- Youth Association, Louisville Metro Police Merit Review Board and the Louisville Metro Parks Advisory Commission and as a board member of the Louisville branch of the NAACP. Councilman Tandy also served as the first President of the Louisville Urban League Young Professionals Organization.
Councilman Tandy and his wife, Carolyn, who serves as District Director for Congressman John Yarmuth and who was the Kentucky State Director for Barack Obama during the 2008 presidential primary, live in the Russell Neighborhood of Louisville and have two daughters, ages five (5) and two (2) and an infant son. The Tandy family attends St. Stephen Baptist Church, which is led by Rev. Dr. Kevin W. Cosby.
